Dunelm, the UK’s leading homewares retailer, is proud to be working alongside Homewards and a range of other providers to deliver homes in Aberdeen, with the aim of preventing and ending homelessness in the city.

The retailer is helping to furnish 31 homes as part of Homewards Aberdeen’s Innovative Housing Project.

Dunelm was present in Aberdeen this week to meet His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales, who visited as Homewards launches new initiatives to create employment opportunities for those experiencing, or at risk of homelessness, and sees the first residents move into homes delivered by Homewards.

Homewards is a five-year programme created by Prince William and The Royal Foundation of The Prince and Princess of Wales that aims to demonstrate that it is possible to end homelessness - making it rare, brief, and unrepeated.

It will support Homewards’ six flagship locations (Aberdeen; Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole; Lambeth; Newport; Northern Ireland; Sheffield) alongside organisations from a range of sectors who are contributing skills, resources and investment to support the locations to deliver solutions.

Paul Sullivan, Head of Charity and Communities at Dunelm, commented:

“At Dunelm we recognise the importance of making a house a home, and the role this can have in helping tackle homelessness in a lasting way.

“We’re therefore very proud to be supporting Prince William and The Royal Foundation of The Prince and Princess of Wales in the Homewards project, and look forward to seeing the impact of the Innovative Housing Project across Aberdeen.”
